Description
Situated just east of one of the most popular treks of Nepal, the Mardi Himal trek is a hidden gem in the Annapurna region. Few trekkers make their way to the Mardi Himal Base Camp, located at the base of Mardi Himal, and the impressive Machapuchhre. The trail was walked only by shepherds and cattle before 2012. Trekkers follow the ridge above the Modi Khola river draining from Annapurna Base Camp. The trail at first winds through dense rhododendron and maple forests, rich in birdlife. The clearings in the forests offer a magnificent view of the Annapurna range. The trail soon climbs above the tree line, offering undisturbed views of snow-covered peaks, including the most spectacular Mt. Fishtail. The changing colors of the peaks at sunset and sunrise appear heavenly. Eventually, you will be rewarded with a view of Annapurna I (8,091 meters, 10th highest in the world) and other peaks seen from Annapurna base camp. We descend on a different route to the warm valley and friendly villages on the bank of Mardi river still away from the used trekking routes. This Annapurna Mardi Himal trek is one of the finest short treks in the Annapurna region designed to provide outstanding mountain profiles and to venture into the forests and villages that have not felt the impact of tourism.
Mardi Himal Trek is a hidden treasure in the Annapurna region. This trek offers imaging view of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchre and Manaslu ranges. Mardi Himal base camp, Siding village and Lwang will attract you even more in this Mardi Himal Trek. Trekkers follow the ridge above the Modi Khola river, as you face increasingly stunning views of the Annapurna range. The changing colors of the peaks at sunset and sunrise glow in your eyes as you sit comfortably sipping tea from a guest house or cozy tent at the base camp.

The valley under beneath of Macchapucchere and the base of Mardi high camp on the northeast edge of giant Annapurna Himalaya-. We had such an amazing trip. Pictures cannot give back the natural beauty of the Himalayas. It was amazing to be in nature far away from civilization. The trekking was fairly moderate but it was well worth the effort when we reached the amazing Mardi Base Camp. Trek itself was a short but lifetime experience for me. It was only 12 Days including KTM and Pokhara. I give my thanks to the Step By Step for organizing my trek. The guide Anil Rai was excellent. As I like to travel alone, I wanted a travel experience with something short, simple, and easily accessible to my different needs. The guide was supportive of my space and time to cope with the environment so well. This Mardi Himal trek was the one I was looking for. I had great accommodations and food in every camp I stayed overnight. All thanks to Step By Step Team. Krishna Lama was great to talk with and the trek route was easy to walk through. With lush green forests and Mount Annapurna ranges surrounding my trek route all the way, from the beginning of the trek to the end, I never got tired of my views. The high walk and steep hills were very easy to clear as there were only steps and steps and a very less muddy and difficult path. The route is easy with some guidelines and camping was also fun. With local hotels and teahouses, I never had problems with tea and coffee along the way, as well. It was easy to take breaks on the trek and short day to day destinations made the trekking better for a lone traveler like me. Highly recommended for all, either solo or group travelers!

"Step By Step Trek with Mardi Himal" To see the sunrise from behind the mountains standing on its foothills is not a piece of cake but it is all worth it. Walking for days up to the High Camp and then to the upper viewpoint was worth a while for the view we garnered from there. The views were splendid, and so were the services by Step by Step. This route is beyond the main trail of busy and Very few people know about Mardi Himal Trek and opt to know it off-the-beaten-path(of course, Kingdom of Rhododendron forest) for their holidays in this region. We came to know about this place through a friend and booked our trek with Step By Step. Our trek all the way to 4,250 meters and our Guide Syam and supporter Vheem exceptional great, knowledgeable and friendly. It was perfectly organized, and we had a fantastic time. Thank you, Step By Step for this experience!

Mardi Himal, beyond the main trail of Annapurna – not really has to be Off-the-Beaten path. But surely it is the Rhododendron kingdom. Over the pastured valley of Badal Danda and the alley into the deep Modi River laying above the snow-capped Machhapucchere and Annapurna –absolutely fabulous. Mardi Himal Base Camp shouldn’t be missed! To climb from High Camp to Base Camp is quite extreme and difficulty while icy trail. However, it is a fair challenge to finish. At the end of it, there is the base camp, which is simply such a cool spot to be, magnificent view. My Guide Shyam and the teamwork Deepak was lovely and fairly deep knowledgeable in this area. Without them shouldn’t be approached at Base Camp. Thanks, Step By Step (Krishna Lama) definitely, ping you again for another big adventure!

I and My Mother went on the Mardi Himal trek through Step By Step. Krishna Lama organized the trek and was attentive and professional by email prior to arrival. He also ensured that all transfers were smooth and that we were kept well informed throughout. During our trip, our guide was Shyam and the supporter porter was Vheem. They were both fantastic Accompany: knowledgeable, fun, friendly, helpful, and just genuinely marvelous people. Shyam has decades of experience and was very responsive to our needs throughout the trip. He was a great guide and really adapted the trip wonderfully. When the weather was not great. Shyam was constantly positive for amended our Itinerary in suits. We could not have wished for better and hope to do further tours with them in Nepal in the future. Mardi Himal was sublime: the walking was manageable and not challenging yet but enough moderate. With exceptional views and delightful countryside. The accommodation was always excellent and all the day food was exceptionally delicious. Unfortunately, we diverted our trip to Jinhu hot springs due to bad weather at high camp, which was wonderful - we can recommend a dip in the cold river followed by a dip in the hot springs. Gets the circulation going! Thank you to Step By Step, to Shaym, to Vheem, of course to Krishna for their professionalism and good nature. We had one of the best holidays we have ever experienced with you all.

Wandered into Krishna’s office in Pokhara and was looking for help planning a trek. With Krishnas knowledge he set up a fantastic trek off the beaten path. Shyam a very experienced guide provided excellent knowledge of the trails and places to stay. I had a really authentic experience staying in some smaller places in amazing locations. We we did 3 major climbs to Mardi Himal, Hidden Lake and Khayer Lake out of Kophra. The views were simply stunning and I couldn’t of asked for a better experience.
